Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has reached the top of Amazon’s best-selling games list in 2018. This marks the first time an anctual game has reached the top as gift cards for digital stores are usually the highest.

This speaks volumes to the success of the game. Even though it was released in December, it has soared in popularity and success. While Amazon did not release their sales numbers for Smash Bros. Ultimate, it did outsell cheaper products and digital store gift cards. Even in the first month, the game has sold millions of copies, and along with that, more and more Nintendo Switches being sold. The game is very popular in Japan, selling 1.2 million copies in its opening week.

Compared to other games on the list, Red Dead Redemption 2 was #14, Super Mario Party was #15, and Marvel’s Spider-Man was #19.

Game sales along with Switch sales will continue to climb as time goes on and DLC is released for Smash Ultimate.

Keep in mind, this game has been out for a month. All the others have been out for a few. If that doesn’t show how successful this game is, I don’t know what does.
